Usually people may think that making rasam is a very easy . But you know rasam will be delicious only if you follow the actual steps and correct measurement of ingredients. This recipe I learned from one grandma. Here I'm making beginner's rasam with correct measurement of ingredients. Please follow the simple steps to make wonderful rasam.
Tip 1 : Add salt(Only for rice) while cooking the rice. It will enhance the taste while eating with rasam.

Ingredients:
- Tomato - 2 nos
- Tamarind - 1 gooseberry size
- Curry leaves - 3 spring.
- Coriander leaves
- Dry red chilies - 4
- Turmeric powder - 1TSP
- Pepper - 2 TBSP
- Cumin seed 1 1/2 TBS (For grinding 1 TBS + Tempering 1/2 TBS)
- Garlic - 7- 10 cloves
- Mustard - 1/2 TSP
- Fenugreek - 1/2 TSP
- Asafoetida - 1/2 TSP
- Sugar - 1 TBSP
- Oil
- Salt
Cooking instructions:
- Soak the tamarind in 2 cups of water for 20 minutes. Then add 2 tomatoes. Squeeze and make a pulp. Then Strain and keep aside.
- For Grinding the powder: Add pepper, cumin seeds 1 TBSP and curry leaves 1 spring in a mixer jar. Grind it as a course powder. Then add un peeled garlic and grind it only for 2 seconds.
Now add the grinded powder in tamarind and tomato water. Then add, Turmeric powder, green chili Some coriander leaves and curry leaves. blend the water with your hand for 2 minutes. Keep aside
Now heat a pan. Add oil, mustard, cumin, fenugreek, asafoetida, curry leaves, dry red chilies. Let it splutter.
Now add the spices mixed water in a pan. Let it come to a gentle simmer on a low heat. At the boiling point add chopped coriander and 1 TBSP sugar and switch off the flame.
Now it is ready to serve. This goes well with the egg podimas and papad.
